Project #1 Complete

Finally it's done! I haven't quite decided whether I'm going to put the trim under the bust line or not. For right now I'm just going to think about it. This top was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and trying to fit it as I sewed was a nightmare. In the end it turned out OK, but if I were to make it again I would modify some things (famous last words of every seamstress!) I've learned a lot making this shirt. First that my skills are very rusty, and secondly I have a lot to learn especially when it comes to pattern adjustments/fitting. I'm going to wear this tonight while I ponder my next project. Maybe a dress (that's not too fitted!).

Excellent job... on the dress AND the dressform...ha!
thanks for the tip about the Kenmore machines at Sears... I'm going on a quest to fine a replacement machine of my own this weekend and i think i might add Sears to the list.

Nice work on the top! I just picked up this pattern for 99 cents on sale at one of the fabric stores in town (when they're on sale like that I can afford to just buy things on a whim) and found your blog linked from the evaluation you wrote on patternreview.com.

I'm so glad you made the comments you did, because I'm a bit on the busty side myself and wasn't certain if I'd wind up with anything that fit all right on my first go-around. Thanks for the remarks about sizing and ease - it helps, since Butterick is annoying and I haven't found where they ever tell you the actual finished measurements of the garment.

This is such a cute top! I love this style and you should wear this top with pride. I have a BWOF with a top very similar in style to this one and wanted to make it maybe two summers ago??? And here it is 2008 and I haven't made it. So many patterns, so little time.
